Q1: What is Slatpanel (also known as Slatwall, Slotwall, Zapwall, & Plankwall)?
A: Slatpanel—sometimes referred to in the trade as above—are panels (usually 18mm MDF or melamine) grooved horizontally and reinforced with aluminum inserts. They’re widely used in retail because they let you design creative, flexible displays that grab attention and boost sales.


Q2: What are Slatpanel panels made from?
A: Our slatpanels are made from 18mm melamine-faced MDF, with options for plain MDF (paint-ready), melamine finishes (solid colour or wood grain), matched to your specifications.


Q3: What sizes and groove (pitch) options are available?
A:

  • Sizes:
    • Portrait: 2400mmH × 1200mmW
    • Landscape: 1200mmH × 2400mmW
    You can also create seamless larger dimensions by joining panels.

  • Groove Spacing (Pitch): 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm are standard. We can also custom-make groove pitches upon request.


Q4: What colours are available?
A: RMS generally uses panels from the Prime Melamine Range. Our common standard colours is in White, Black, or in Woodgrain. Visit https://www.primepanels.co.nz/products/prime-melamine/collection/colours/ for all options. We can also supply from the 'Bestwood', and 'Melteca' ranges.


Q5: How much do the panels weigh?
A: Each standard 2400mm × 1200mm panel weighs approximately 35-40 kg.


Q6: What accessories are compatible with Slatpanel?
A: A wide range: Display hooks & arms, shelf brackets, signage holders, capping for edge protection and more. You can also add branding or lighting to create a "wow" factor in your store. RMS stocks a wide range of most fittings & display accessories.


Q7: How are the panels delivered?
A:

  • Panels are securely strapped in a crate on a pallet ready to deliver. Local Christchurch deliveries will be in our RMS truck.

  • Delivery cost: Will be dependent on location and to final weight & cubic metre. Extra charges for rural and residential deliveries. Please enquire within for a cost indication. 

  • Lead time: Typically 5-7 working days for most colours. Upon order confirmation RMS can provide an idea of timing.


Q8: How do I safely unload Slatpanel?
A: Carefully cut the plastic straps on the pallet, remove protective sheet, and unload one panel at a time. It’s a two-person job—and gloves are recommended to avoid injury.
